Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan. Its central location alongside the stark desert landscape makes it a popular tourist destination and a gateway to the Thar Desert. Jodhpur is known as both the “Sun City” and the “Blue City,” two aspects of the city that we really practiced in person.

The “Sun City” nickname comes from the brawny sunlight that sweeps the city from east to west all year round. Unwanted to say, it was extraordinarily hot in Jodhpur. During our wait, temperatures reached 44 degrees Celsius during the day and no less than 28 at night. Walking beneath the sun was an arduous task and we could never do it for more than five minutes without looking for some shelter under the shade. An auto rickshaw ride was like being inside a convection oven, with the hot dry wind cooking our soft tissue. We probably would have enjoyed Jodhpur more had we come a different time of year.

The other nickname, the “Blue City,” was far more satisfying than the first one. To find out why Jodhpur is blue, we head to the mighty and healthy Mehrangarh Fort.

The walk up the small alley of the Mehrangarh Fort wasn’t easy in the heat. After many breaks, we finally supervise to reach the walls that disregarded the city. From 120m above, we saw the stunning signature blue of the many nearby houses.

The color blue traditionally signified the home of a Brahmin; however, non-Brahmins also caught on to it and the result were a blue wave in the middle of the dirty setting. I had never seen anything quite like it and it was beautiful in its own way. We appreciated it for as long as we could, before the sun really became intolerable.

From the sunny and blue city of Jodhpur, we permanent our journey to the lake city of Udaipur.

Udaipur

Nicknamed the “City of Lakes,” Udaipur was far more convenient when it came to the weather. The large bodies of water dotted around the city helped to keep it cool and also provide attractive promenade to get together and relax.

It was only later that with some research, I found it wasn’t a mating dance at all. It was in fact a deceitfully deadly battle between two male snakes combating for territory. I had never seen such large snakes in the middle of the street, it was a tad terrifying.

We ruined our visit to Udaipur with a meeting with local family friends. After a great time spent over coffee, they took us to Fateh Sagar Lake for a nocturnal stroll. It was calm and relaxing, charming in a way that only a lake city could be. We sat on the walkway, chatted, and even watched a artistic dance show. Many locals were also bringing into being chilling by the lake and it was not hard to see why.

Jodhpur and Udaipur marked the end of our stay in Rajasthan. Having seen the tourist attractions, we can definitively say that the state deserve its image as one of the most popular touristic parts of India. Indoor Garden: This look was principally created for the summer, or for venues with no natural beauty to add some moment freshness to the decoration. It was really like bringing the garden indoor, with the walls covered in greens, large green trees with execution votive candles, and trellis over the dinner area covered with greens and hanging chandeliers. It was kind of like walking into a banquet hall, but getting the feeling of being out-of-doors!

Vintage: Destination Wedding in Udaipur with vintage back in fashion, this was for a function. Pale colors, lots of lace, traditional reflect frames, pearl details and plenty of candles. Imported hydrangeas and peonies and place them out in teacups as table centerpieces.

The Rajasthan: Palace Wedding Udaipur This was for a mehendi in Udaipur. The bride was from the states and wanted something super colorful for her mehendi. So we picked elements from the restricted rajasthani bazaar,, puppets, umbrellas, used dhols as coffee table and filled chai glass holder with gulab and mogra. Bought clay elephants off the road and painted them in bright neon colours.

Black, gold and glam: We did this was for a party in Udaipur. The theme was black and gold and all the guests were meant to dress in those colors. The client required the space to look like a nightspot and I wanted to add a fun yet well-groomed element to it. While talking to the client we realize she was a science student and quite a geek so we enclosed the walls in chalkboard with graffiti and counterbalance that with gold and black let down arch, lots of candles and red roses to make the site look super glam.

As your wedding planner I will do enormously everything you want or need me to sort out.  We find venues, marquees, caterers, coaches, bouncy castles – no matter which!  We make sure the day runs smoothly, we make sure the run up to your wedding is calming and pleasurable

Some things not to do?

I know that most couples find out the hard way that the wedding industry is just that – an business.  What seems to be ideal turns out to be restrictive and limited?  Weddings are about romance, families, and thoughts the future…  As a wedding planner, it is pleasant to deal with the “Wedding Industry” for the couple and make sure that only the best, honest and most gifted suppliers are used

• Don’t book a venue, or any other supplier at a wedding. Venues and suppliers spend a fortune looking at their best at a wedding; you need to find out the reality first.  Wedding great for ideas, and to get a feel for a company.  Meet the people listen in to what they are saying, but make your decision in the following days after a little more investigate has been done
• Don’t book a venue or supplier without bearing in mind ALL of the fine print
• Don’t be bullied into the “our number one supplier is… ” issue.   If you want your Aunt to do the flowers, that fine
• Don’t let your families push you into the day they want.
• Don’t forget your budget.  While all the big things add up satisfactorily, all the little things can cost a wealth too
• Don’t forget that a “enclose” at a hotel or venue, is often a formula that increase the profits for the venue – i.e. it reduces their work effort whilst increasing what you are paying

What should we do?

Well at a distance from calling me… do take a step back and write down exactly what it is you want from the day – what is imperative to you as a couple, not everyone else.  Too many couples try to have the dream wedding of their friends or kin.  Do insist on having what you want, and not what you are told you can have.  We don’t do flexible here at Creative Wedding Planning!

As modest or as much as you need or want.  As your wedding planner I will frequently start by having a long discussion with you, result out exactly what you want and need.   We will bounce around lots of creative ideas.    I will then find you the magnificent venue and suppliers, and begin organizing all of big and small things to make the day perfect
